AUTO ACCIDENT CHECKLIST     The following "checklist" is designed to help you take the necessary steps to protect your legal rights in case of an accident.   Stop the car and do not leave the scene, no matter how minor the accident. Get uninjured passengers out of the vehicle and to the side of the road safely away from the vehicle and traffic. Call the police. Put your emergency flashers on and try to use additional safety precautions such as flares or flags. Call an ambulance if you or someone is injured. Get the other driver's name, phone number and insurance company with policy number. If the other driver is uncooperative or if you are fearful, at least get the license plate number. Be sure to ask the police officer for the Accident Case Report number.   Make statements about the accident to anyone but the police. Move the vehicles until after the police have arrived unless it poses a safety threat to other traffic. Use common sense.
